Jodhpur

Umaid Bhawan Palace team organized an awareness session on the launch of Tata Volunteering Week 4 at the Polo Café. The message from the Chairman, Mr. Cyrus Mistry was shared with the associates which aims at achieving 1 million total volunteering hours. A brief idea on the activities that they can participate in to help achieve the target as a team were also shared. More information on various volunteering activities scheduled to take place at Umaid Bhawan Palace were also shared with the employees. The associates were also informed about the Joy of Giving Week from Oct.2-7th, 2015 in which they would be able to do their bit in making someone’s day by donating books, clothes etc.

The HR encouraged them to be a part of the Trigger a Change reaction campaign of the Tata group.

Bangalore

Vivanta by Taj, Yeshwantpur initiated a cleaning drive as part of the Tata Volunteering Week 4 on 5th September. From the unit, the drive was initiated by the Human Resource team and Chief Engineering Team. The Swacchata Team comprised a cross-section of associates from different departments and cadres.

As said by Mahatma Gandhi, "Everyone must be their own scavenger". Cleanliness and orderliness of your public area is a matter of pride and considered next to godliness. And being part of the Tata group conglomerate, the act of giving is gently weaved into our culture and group ethos. 

Due to the work being carried out under heavy traffic conditions – appropriate personal protective safety gear was worn to ensure safety of the associates undertaking the cleaning. The team its efforts in the form of clearing the stagnant storm water drain towards the Outer Ring Road side – periphery wall of the hotel. The wall of the hotel was painted with bright colours to bring cheer around the area by the associates.

The area towards the Tumkur Road side is made up of space for a service road between the Metro station girders. The current scenario was in a state of disuse. The teams continued to clean up the debris from the sidewalks & drains that keep accumulating. Approximately forty garbage bags of garden waste was collected. Several passers-by thanked the hotel team for taking up the initiative to clean the area. 

Madhya Pradesh

Based on the Tata Volunteering week-4, on 5th September 2015 the management and associate team went to the Asha Bhavan and distributed 30 litres cooking oil. Asha Bhavan is a home of Destitute, under privileged and abandoned children in Madhya Pradesh.

Jamshedpur

TVW 4 was launched in the morning of 5th September, 2015 by the Head of Jamshedpur Plant in the presence of all Senior Leaders, President, General Secretary of Telco Workers Union and Team CSR. The launching was done through release of balloons in front of the statue of Mr. J N Tata near the General Office. In the introductory speech to all present, the need for employees to commit themselves towards the cause of Tata Engage- the Group Initiative on volunteering in CSR and inspire other colleagues to follow suit was emphasised. He also stressed on the Group Chairman, Mr.Cyrus P Mistry’s desire to clock in a million volunteering hours every year.

The launching ceremony was followed by inauguration of a mobile Kiosk created for the purpose of dissemination of awareness on Tata Engage for employees. A documentary film on volunteering was screened at the kiosk. The day also saw over 50 GETs of 2015 and previous batches volunteering at a school at Luadih village. The volunteers planted saplings with the school children, explained the importance of plants and their protection, organized games, taught hand washing practices and distributed wholesome snacks to the children mobilized from their individual contributions. They also pledged to provide the children with footwear. The interaction bore personal affection which was quite touching.

Rallis India

Mumbai

Maths Guidance Programme

Rallis volunteers organized Maths guidance programme for 1st to 7th standard Tribal Students. He taught them basic divisions with simple examples. Students were also motivated to learn maths.

Science workshop

Rallis India organized a Science workshop for 7th standard students of St.Bethany School, Kolkhe. The purpose behind the workshop was to learn the scientific principles easily through toys. Students were taught about various types of toys like Flickering fish, Maglev, Boomerang, Flute, Merry Go Round and were explained the scientific principle behind respective toys. Students enjoyed the workshop very much.

Lote

A group of 7 Volunteers of Rallis India Limited, Lote Unit visited an Old Age Home at Khed. There are 14 inmates in the Old Age Home. They spent a few hours with them where they took them to the garden and clicked happy pictures. The volunteers also distributed fruits and biscuits. They were very happy and shared their experiences.

Voltas Ltd.

Delhi

Five Volunteers from Voltas Ltd. launched skill development program at Shri Ram Shikshapeeth, Delhi, a school located near the Yamuna river bank and represents the economically weaker section of the society like rickshaw pullers, vegetable vendors, slum dwellers and daily wage labourers.

The volunteers have taken up the initiative of conducting 10 Classes of 2 hours duration for the next 5 weeks while teaching the children to sharpen their understanding and awareness on English Communication Skills, Health & Hygiene, Positive Thinking, Career Planning and Environment Protection and Safety.

A batch of 25 Students from the School have been made and after the completion of the first phase on 10th October, 2015, the volunteers will take the children out for a one day Educational Tour to the Nehru Planetarium, Science Museum and National Museum.

Tata Teleservices

Mumbai

Tata Teleservices employees volunteered with the National Association for Blind - Sir Jamshedji Duggan Braille Press located at Worli seaface.

The team worked along with the NAB team in the Braille press on the assorting of book pages, assembling of the Braille magazine, Braille school text book binding and punching along with packaging. The volunteers did the data entry of documents in English and other Indian languages. They also scanned and edited the material for Braille conversion and comparing print text with Braille text for rectifying errors.

Pune

Food distribution to the needy

Volunteers from Tata Technologies, Pune distributed food to 25000 beneficiaries at ISKCON Ravet community centre. They helped the centre staff in cleaning the premises followed by logistics help in making the afternoon food. ISKCON Ravet centre is Tata recognised ISO certified state-of-the-art kitchen which caters to over 50 schools & 32000 school children Mid-Day Meal every day. 35 Tata Technologies employees & their family members distributed food to 25000 community members on the launch of Tata Volunteering Week 4. Few members even stayed back to clean up after the food distribution.

Value Education - Skill Development

12 Volunteers from Tata Technologies Pune went to the Vasantdada Patil Madyamik Vidyalaya, Nehrunagar, Pimpri on the occasion of TVW 4.. With the help of Pune’s leading Skill Development Team our volunteers conducted a two hour workshop for the underprivileged children.

In the first activity, an ancient Puzzle called Tangram was given to 380 children to create various objects such as animals, humans, letters and numbers. This activity helped the children to think independently and sharpen their problem solving ability. Children were enlightened with the knowledge and volunteers equally enjoyed this CSR activity.

Mumbai

35 Tata Housing volunteers organized games for special children of “SHREE BHAIRAV KARNA BADHIR VIDHYALAYA” at Bhiwandi on 5th September. The activities were drawing, lime on spoon, memory game, balls in buckets as well as a mehendi competition. Above 130 children participated in the games along with the teachers. The day was joyful and entertaining for them.

Jamshedpur

As a part of Tata Volunteering Week 4 celebrations, employees from the Pellet Plant – JDC of Tata Steel visited the primary school of Konkadasha, Bonta on top of the dalma hills 30 km away from the steel city on 9th September. The uniqueness of the activity was that the village and the school is 100% tribal. There are only 12 houses in the village.

The volunteers spent some time with these children and shared some lighter moments. A field trip was planned to enable the volunteers to have a lot of fun with children while they learn about different professions and create unique experiences for themselves.

The primary school children welcomed all volunteers with their gleaming smiles and warm heart. The volunteers brought gifts items like pencils, note book, educational charts, and bags etc. which were then distributed amongst the children. The team also distributed fruits like banana and apple to the children. This interactive program was enjoyed by all.

Delhi

A day spent with the Underprivileged

To mark the onset of TATA Volunteering Week 4, Special Consumer Group and CSR Dept. of Tata Power-DDL organized a cultural program in association with G.D. Goenka World Institute |Lancaster University. TPDDL has partnered with G D Goenka Institute where employees and students jointly work for the people residing at Bottom of the Pyramid. The event organized under the initiative of Brand Ambassadors Cultural Club aimed at bringing the slum dwellers to the mainstream and provide them with a platform where they can showcase their talents, which otherwise remain unrecognized. This event saw a number of performances (dance and music) by the inmates of JJ clusters and gave them applauding audiences in the form of the students from Foreign Land. Participants were engaged in various competitions like- Drawing, Best out of waste etc.

This event became a success with the contribution of 35 volunteers who played an important role in registration, hosting, coordinating with invitees, organizing various competitions, refreshment distribution etc.

Awareness campaign on Safety and Energy Conservation campaign

Sub-Transmission Dept. of Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd. organized a sensitization program on Safety and Energy Conservation program for school students of North & North West Delhi. Nearly 4300 students from 5 schools were sensitized through the mass awareness drive. During the morning assemblies and through classroom sessions volunteers directly impacted these students. The various topics covered included Electrical Safety issues relating to Poles, Live Wires, Transformers, etc.; Techniques to Conserve Energy; General Safety pertaining to Safety on Road, Careful handling of electrical home appliances and gadgets. 21 volunteers contributed to make it a successful campaign.

Volunteering for Orphans

Sub Transmission System & Maintenance Planning Group of Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd. visited an orphanage SOS, Bawana and spent quality time with the resident kids. These kids are either orphans or were disowned by their families. Volunteering team of 6 employees gifted sports items like Football, Badminton Racket/Shuttle, Board Games etc. to the kids.

Hands on Training program organized for students

6 volunteers from Sub Transmission Dept. of Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd. organized a Hands on Training program for Diploma Engineering Students of Aryabhat Polytechnic (Govt. of Delhi) where 30 students accompanied by 4 faculty members, visited 33KV Trinagar Grid S/Station of TPDDL. Volunteering team presented a brief about Power Transformer & its accessories, 33KV & 11KV Breaker Panels, Battery Bank & Capacitor Bank to the students. Volunteers also sensitized students about the Energy Auditing Process.

Drug de-addiction camp organized for the needy ones

TPDDL, in association with Prajapita Brahm Kumari’s organized a drug de-addiction camp for the needy ones at Haiderpur JJ cluster in North Delhi. The organising team with help from employee volunteers made home visits to the residents of the clusters motivating them to attend the camp and avail benefits from it. The team of 9 volunteers also counselled the attendants of the camp and free homeopathic medicines were distributed to them.

Tata AIG General Insurance Company Limited

Pondicherry and Kolkata

Brave Tata AIG volunteers donated blood at the government hospitals in Pondicherry and Kolkata as a part of TVW4. This blood will be available at their blood banks to help patients in times of emergency. They felt very proud and are now motivated to volunteer for many other future activities organised by the company.
